The city of Seinäjoki retained its first place in the Federation of Finnish Enterprises’ industrial policy indicators survey for large cities (over 50,000 residents). The results were published at the Federation of Finnish Enterprises’ local authorities’ leadership day in Tampere in May 2018. Seinäjoki’s total score was 7.6. Seinäjoki also finished in first place two years ago with a total score of 7.1. Seinäjoki’s position is strengthened by the city finishing first in all seven indicators. The last time Seinäjoki finished first it was top in four indicators.
- Great feedback about the work of everybody at the City of Seinäjoki. And what is even more valuable is that the feedback comes from entrepreneurs. We are doing this for them, Jorma Rasinmäki City Major rejoiced.
Entrepreneurship is also a core selection in the city’s new strategy.
- Seinäjoki wants to be regarded by companies as Finland’s best city for entrepreneurship. We continuously develop our operations to become more business orientated and reinforce cooperation with entrepreneurial organisations and with individual companies, Rasinmäki remarked.
Two years ago, Seinäjoki was second in the indicator of local authority development work on offer to help companies. Now Seinäjoki has risen to first in that indicator.
- Two years ago, Into Seinäjoki’s operations were still new. Fantastic, that we have been able to develop our operations to the top. Cooperation with local entrepreneurial associations has become tighter in many sectors, and we have reached even more of our city’s companies. That definitely shows in the results, stated Hannu Kantonen, Into Seinäjoki’s Managing Director.
Both Rasinmäki and Kantonen pointed out, that despite the success Seinäjoki cannot rest on its laurels.
- We are humbly proud of our top place finish, but seven points is still a long way from 10 points. We will develop our industrial policy for every sector. We believe the continuous development of our operations and active cooperation with our city’s companies and entrepreneurial organisations will continue to bring good results, stated Kantonen.
The Federation of Finnish Enterprises undertakes its Industrial policy indicator survey every other year. The survey maps cooperation between local authorities and entrepreneurs and the condition of industrial policy. This is the eighth time the survey has been produced.
